Our Soldiers

One shinning day you were born
so many eyes upon you adorn
a tiny coddling baby you were
ever so gentle hardly a stir

As years grew by older you became
proudly bearing your God given name
learning things day by day
living life to its fullest in every way

Then came the day proudly you said
as you stood there with a tilt to your head
Mom and Dad I hope your proud of me
for I just joined the military

They hugged, they cried beaming with joy
knowing how soon you would deploy
You told them don't worry you will be ok
and you will miss them while your away

Off you went with fellow soldiers to train
knowledge and special lessons you gain
after long months you made it through
how your family is so proud of you

Then came the day your orders arrived
your faith in our Nation truly  revived
not knowing was the hardest part of all
but none the less you stood proud and tall

Proud to serve your country as best you can
you knew this was your life long plan
perhaps not understanding the reasons why
but you knew your lessons would soon apply

Into the battles you went without fear
even though you were shedding a tear
you knew in your heart this is what you had to do
and knew how proud your family was too

Then came that fatal day
suddenly the sky went gray
you felt no pain no regrets
as you fell down among your fellow cadets

How proud we are of you this soldier of ours
as we all search upon the stars
we did not know your name or your face
but none the less your loss we embrace
