HIDEAWAY

The size is small, each space is filled with memorable items that I cherish. Each table is cluttered with all sorts of odds and ends. Each wall has something hanging on it. Shelves filled with books I never open, an Am radio, a typewriter, clothes scattered all around, bits of dust are in site. A board with Ziggy strips covering it. Blankets in one corner waiting to be stored for the summer. treasure-able items standing in their spot. The drapes pulled back to allow every breathe of air to enter. A glass with melted ice on the table. A bed with covers disturbed.

In this place are many secrets that only I know. Why? Because this place is my temporary hideaway where I have all my thoughts, hopes and dreams.

Yes this is a typical teenage room!!

I wrote this many years ago when I was a teenager. And now being a mother of teens myself I sit and read this and all my memories come back to me. I now see how they my teens see their own room, as their hideaway. I'm glad that I wrote this when I was young for now it helps me to understand them a little bit more.
