Saying Good-Bye

Every day you see their smiling face
But today is just not the case
They've gotten hurt, they've fallen ill
For this pain there is no magic pill
You've said good-bye, but it just isn't right
For their soul to take flight
After many years, or just a few
You're all alone, they've left you

What to do, what to say
Cry, put your head down and lay?
What to say, what to do
Do you say good-by, this still feels new!
Can you make it
Out of this grieving pit
The empty piece in your heart
It feels so wrong for you to part
Good-Bye is just one thing you can't say

This endless day, this living nightmare
it isn't fair
For them to up and go
Please tell me it isn't so
Give them back
This pain, this lack
It hurts too bad
This feeling of never ending sad
Why did it go this way?
Why not another day?

What to do, what to say
cry, put your head down and lay?
What to say, what to do
Do you say good-by, this still feels new!
Can you make it
Out of this grieving pit
The empty piece in your heart
It feels so wrong for you to part
Good-Bye is just one thing you can't say

But the truth is clear
Their body is far, but their heart is near
They're always there
No way to tear
The never ending connection
of never ending affection

What to do, what to say
cry, put your head down and lay?
What to say, what to do
Do you say good-by, this still feels new!
Can you make it
Out of this grieving pit
The empty piece in your heart
It feels so wrong for you to part
Good-Bye is just one thing you can't say

It's time to say, my last Good-Bye

This beautiful poem was written by my daughter Stephanie at the young age of 13. She recently lost her Grandfather and is about to loose her loving pet.
