Gabriel Francis
what a beautiful name
I was watching over you the day you came
though you could not see me you knew I was there
If you listened very closely you could hear my prayer
As you were
born my tears started to swell
Knowing I would not be there with my stories to tell
I could not hold you and bounce you on my knee
or lock you in my jail cell for you to get free
Though I’m not
there to watch you grow
there is something that I need you to know
you were the one thing I was waiting for
before I took my final walk out the door
I have all my
children who have now grown
and their children are having children of their own
But you were the one I wanted to see
to know that my name would be apart of history
And now as I
look down from heaven above
I can see my family is so full of love
as they all join together on this special day
and all hold hands and proudly pray
Over you my
dearest little one
my most adorable great grandson
Gabriel Francis what a beautiful name
I was watching over you the day you came
I wrote this
poem as a christening gift to our great nephew Gabriel. Though the
words were written by me the inspiration came from Gabriel's great
Grandfather Francis with whom I had many conversations with about
his upcoming birth before he passed away.
(The song you
here playing is one Grandpop would start singing as soon as he found
out any of us was going to have a little one)
