To pick you up when you are down
To somehow take away your frown
To know when it's right to open and speak
To know when to sit back and listen be meek

To be loving, caring, and forgiving
Supportive through our everyday living
To be able to sit back and hear what we say
To be able to show us perhaps a better way

To know that we all have busy things we must do
To know no mater what we are thinking of you
Even if we don’t say hello day in and out
We know that does not mean we are forgot about

Friends have a special bond to hold
It takes days, weeks even years to mold
But once there it's set in stone
It keeps us strong and never alone

A true friend will always be there
You will know that they really do care
You will feel their spirit within
You will hear them in the wind

Once a friend has found a spot in your heart
You will know that friend will never part
You will know how strong and true
The bond of friendship is with you

Don’t let the every day ins and out
Make you forget what friendship is all about
Don’t think that as time has gone by
That your friend has pushed you aside

Know in your heart you got them through
The mundane tasks that they must do
It's knowing that you are out there somewhere
That gives strength to handle each day with care

If you think for a moment they are gone
You are the one that is oh so wrong
For once that bond was formed between you
There is nothing in life that can undo

Remember this if you forget anything at all
You my friend have helped me stand tall
You have been there when I needed you the most
You are the one I offer a toast

So hold our hands up across the land
Stand tall, stand proud as we reach hand to hand
We circle the globe around we go
