Today is the day we lost a special member of our family
I so wanted to write something so very special for her
but no matter how hard I try I can't seem to put the words on the screen.
How does one even begin to say goodbye
Fantasia was not just a dog
she was a true member of our family
and though at times she truly made you grrr
never once did we stop loving her ever so deeply
Over these past few years she has become my shadow
and now that shadow is gone
all I can do now is shed my tears and feel the pain of her loss
I know in time this shall pass
But what will never pass is our love for her
she has embedded herself deep within our hearts
and there she shall always stay.

Below are some poems I found on the internet
and I felt they truly say some of the things I so wanted to.
The one that hit home with me the most is the last one
I saw it in her eyes, she was telling us its time to let her go
and with all the love she has given us through the years
we took it... and used that as our guide
as we gave her one last kiss good~bye

Run with the wind Fantasia...
be happy and free!!!

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Tribute To A Best Friend

Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

We are slowly dealing with the lost of our dear Fantasia. Every day we seem to find something that reminds us of her. And it brings tears to our hearts. We have found one of the hardest things is coming home at the end of the day. Walking in the door and not having her run up to greet us seems to be the most difficult thing to get past. Today we came home and found a package sitting on our porch. As you can see I posted a picture below. It was a beautiful flower arrangement sent to us from Dr. King, Fantasia's vet and his staff. In our world of sadness and pain finding this today brought a smile to our face and joy to our heart. How nice it was to see that Fantasia and our family was thought of in such a way!
