The following was written by our mother Marie. It was read at Thom's funeral mass. Since then Marie, has passed away, as well as my brother Stephen. While cleaning I came across this paper in my mothers handwriting, and I wanted to share with all.
My Fare Well to Thom!
Hello!
I want to thank all of you for coming here to share this moment with me. To bid fare well to my son Thom.
Some of you knew Thom, some did not, and some only heard of him.
My son Thom - My little boy lost!
A young man who grew in stature to manhood. One whose brain had such a high I.Q., he did not know how to put it to good use. One whose mind, according to his doctors, never surpassed his teenage years. Also, a young man who dreamed that his wish was to always to be with his father - that someday his father would come here to be with him.
Thom, my son, was a young man who always sent me, his mother, a birthday card, a Christmas card, an Easter card, a mothers day card and yes even a fathers day card.
He never bypassed the anniversary of my wedding without some contact, a card, a phone call or a rose.
And through all his problems during his illness - he never went to bed at night without calling to say " I love You" and goodnight.
So let us hold our head's high! Let us all look to the Lord and hope and pray with all our hearts, that my son Thom, my little boy lost, has at last followed the rainbow and found his dream
Thank you!
