Dear God

I said a prayer to God Today
asking him if you would be ok
I told him how sick you are
and asked if he could hear me from afar

I told him to be watching over you
make sure the doctors were doing all they could do
I told him how we all love you so
and none of us are ready to let you go

I told him though you lived a long life
you are not ready to leave your beautiful wife
I told him that we were all standing by your side
holding back our tears and not letting them cry

I asked him as gentle as I could
Dear Lord are my prayers fully understood
can you hear the plea within my heart
Please do not let this wonderful man depart

Could you please give him back to us if only for awhile
so one more time we can see his wonderful smile
give us the chance to say the things we need to say
The time we need to accept what may

Dear Lord I pray to you up above
Please know our hearts are full of love
For our Dad, Grandpop, and Father In Law
whom we all admire and look at in awe

Thank you God for hearing our prayers
and for letting us know how much you cared
You gave him back to us for a short while
we got to see him laugh and smile

His pain and suffering has come to end
Time has come for our hearts to mend
We hold close our memories of the past
For he is safely home at last
